Illustrated wedding contracts are an ancient tradition in many cultures. Illustrator and designer Eva-Lena Rehnmark melds the ancient art of wedding contracts and illuminated manuscripts to create a personal, visual representation of each couple’s commitment to each other.

Eva-Lena works closely with each couple using personal text provided by the couple and creating custom design elements that represent each couple’s story, message and style. Once a couple has decided on the design of their contract based on loose pencil sketches, Eva-Lena will start to lay in color and text, typically using watercolor, ink, gouache, and gold leaf.

The process of creating a wedding contract is very collaborative. You choose the wording you'd like and what elements (i.e. birds, animals, plants, flowers, etc) that you would like to see in your ketubah.

Trained at Rhode Island School of Design, Eva-Lena draws upon her intense school experience and 16 years of professional illustration to create wedding contracts as unique as the couple she is working with.
